CHECK OUT THE NEWS ON THE 2010 REUNION IN PHILADELPHIA, PA. IN AUGUST Welcome to the Callaghan Sailors web site. There were two ships bearing the name USS Callaghan - DD-792 and DDG-994. This site is dedicated to the brave men of the USS Callaghan DD-792. There is quite a history behind these two great ships. You'll find plenty of good information compiled in this one location. However, any and all stories, photos, and other information is always welcome. Email your ideas, stories, and suggestions to webmaster@callaghansailors.net. The intent of this site is to provide a central location for the collection of Callaghan information. When folks gather around the drinking fountain they tend to exchange a lot of small talk, gossip, quips and other bits of information. The drinking fountain in the navy is called a scuttlebutt. So the information passed along at these impromptu meetings became known as "scuttlebutt". Lets make this site the main repository for Callaghan scuttlebutt. The information gathered so far came from articles found during searches on the Internet. I know there are a lot of interesting stories to be told about these two ships and their crew. I was a plank owner on the USS Callaghan DDG-994 and I know some of the stories can be told and well....some just can't. But I'm looking for the ones that can in order to post them to this web site for all to enjoy. So for now, browse this web site and see what you think.
